Happy Birthday Son House!


Eddie James "Son" House, Jr. was born on March 21, 1902 in Mississippi.

Son House was one of the most important Delta bluesmen; his style and music has been imitated by countless musicians, and was the primary influence on Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson.

It was Son House who spread the legend that Johnson had sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads.

He's got a great deal of blues standards, like "Death Letter Blues", "John the Revelator", and "Preachin' Blues".

He passed away on October 19, 1988.
